MONTEVIDEO -- Raland LeRoy Raveling, 68, of Montevideo died Monday at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
He was born Oct. 19, 1938, in Minneapolis to Jacob Raveling Sr. and Ovidia (Ulen) Raveling. He attended country school at District 53 and then transferred to Montevideo Central School.

He married Helen Huth on June 3, 1961. They lived in Montevideo. He served in police reserves for several years and as a policeman in Maynard for three years. He worked as a truck driver, bought his own truck, and later drove for Viessman Trucking of Clarkfield for 12 years. He purchased the Raveling Trailer Court with his son, and also drove city bus for Montevideo. He retired in 2005. He moved to Luther Haven Nursing Home because of his health.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his son: Robert (and Kimberly) Raveling of Montevideo; one grandson; and three brothers: Howard (and Darlene) Raveling of Schaller, Iowa, Alfred (and Linnea) Raveling of Eagan, and Bill (and Terri) Raveling of Newport.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2000; daughter: Heather Raveling; two brothers and one sister.
