Raymond man dies after Friday afternoon crash near Montevideo

According to a news release, Jeryl Vanderpol, 77, of Raymond, was traveling westbound on County Road 13 and failed to yield to a vehicle traveling southbound on County Road 6. Both vehicles left the roadway from the intersection and Vanderpol was pronounced deceased on scene.

MONTEVIDEO — A 77-year-old man died following a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Chippewa County, according to a news release from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office.

According to the news release, Jeryl Vanderpol, of Raymond, was traveling westbound on County Road 13 and failed to yield to a vehicle traveling southbound on County Road 6. Both vehicles left the roadway from the intersection and Vanderpol was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Montevideo Police Department and the Chippewa County Montevideo Ambulance also responded to the crash, reported at 3 p.m. Friday.
