LITCHFIELD -- Raymond Olaf Nelson, 96, of Litchfield died Thursday at Meeker County Memorial Hospital.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Augustana Memorial Chapel in Litchfield and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements are with Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.

He was born May 31, 1910, in Greenleaf Township, Meeker County, to Carl O. and Anne F. (Anderson) Nelson. He attended school through the eighth grade. He worked for area farmers and at the meat market.

He married Ethel A. Anderson on May 23, 1933. They lived on a farm in Rosendale and Acton. Ethel died in 1964.

He married Adeline Johnson on Jan. 8, 1966. They lived on the Acton farm and then moved to Litchfield in 1978. Adeline died in 2005. He lived and farmed in Meeker County all of his life. He lived at Gloria Dei from 1994 to June of 2006, when he moved to Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. He was active in farm bureau and worked for Acton Gennessee Insurance Company several years.

He is survived by his daughters: Lorna (and Clarence) Erickson of Grove City, Iona (and DeWayne) Albright of Litchfield, Luanne Bachman of Plymouth; stepson: Dean (and Vera) Johnson of Litchfield; 10 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Edna Beckvall of Tempe, Ariz., Viola Tornow of Litchfield, Violet Hutchins of Youngtown, Ariz., and Betty Olson of Dassel.

He was preceded in death by his wives; son-in-law: Charles Bachman; one great-grandson; one brother and four sisters.
