n Patricia Nancy Rosalie Peterson, 27, of Sauk Rapids, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a fifth-degree controlled substance possession charge for possessing 90 grams of marijuana on April 5 at Robbins Island Park in Willmar.
As part of a plea agreement, a third-degree drug possession charge and a petty misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia will be dismissed. She will be sentenced June 16.
The charges were filed after Peterson was arrested April 5 after a Department of Natural Resources conservation officer, who was using a spotting scope to check on fisherman, spotted her around 2:45 p.m. in a vehicle handling a gallon-sized plastic bag of marijuana and then smoking a joint at Robbins Island Park.
According to the complaint, the conservation officer stopped the vehicle, driven by another woman, and noticed a lot of movement by the occupants and then the smell of marijuana when the window was opened. A 17-year-old female juvenile passenger told CEE-VI Drug Task Force officers that all three women had been smoking marijuana. The driver said the drugs and paraphernalia belonged to Peterson.
A search of the vehicle revealed a total of 90 grams of marijuana, including the gallon-sized bag, the liquid Oxycodone, prescribed to another person, $370 in cash, pipes and a scale.
