Bird Island house fire investigated
BIRD ISLAND - The Renville County Sheriff’s Office said authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed the home of Matthew and Linda Rham of Bird Island Friday morning.
Units were called at 10:42 a.m. and found the house on the 800 block of Oak Street engulfed in flames. The sheriff’s office said the house is considered a complete loss. The couple was not at home at the time the fire started. Agencies responding to the fire were the Bird Island Fire Department, the Bird Island Medical Response Unit, Olivia Police Department, Olivia Fire Department, Olivia Ambulance, the Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office, American Red Cross, and the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.
Crashes
MORRIS - Four people received non-life-threatening injuries in a one-car crash Sunday on U.S. Highway 59 and Stevens County Road 4, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
They were the driver, Rossellyn C. Rusk, 23, of Appleton, and passengers, Jayse M. Robertson, 1, city unknown, Zachary C. Robertson, 30, of Appleton, and Tammy M. Mctighe, 35, of Correll. The patrol said Rusk and Jayse Robertson were taken to Stevens County Medical Center in Morris. Zachary Robertson was taken to CentraCare in St. Cloud, and Mctighe was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
The patrol said the 2004 Mazda driven by Rusk was southbound on Highway 59 when the car ran off the road, went into the ditch, skidded sideways into a farm field and rolled several times.
The Morris Police Department, and Hancock Police Department and Fire assisted at the scene.
GLENWOOD - A two-vehicle sideswipe crash Saturday on State Highway 28 at Starbuck resulted in a non-life-threatening injury to one person Saturday, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
A 2000 Chevy Silverado driven by Dylan T. Lines, 25, of Montevideo was westbound on Highway 28 and a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Shannon M. Horton, 37, of Starbuck was eastbound when the Jeep crossed over the center line, sideswiped the Silverado and rolled, coming to rest on its wheels, according to the patrol.
Horton was taken to Glacial Ridge in Glenwood. The patrol said alcohol was detected. The physical condition was not documented for Lines and a passenger, Joshua M. Weckwerth, 32, of Montevideo.
Agencies assisting at the scene were the Starbuck Police Department, Glenwood Police Department, Starbuck Fire Department, and Glacial Ridge Ambulance.
PRINSBURG - A collision of two motorcycles Saturday evening 1.5 miles north of Prinsburg resulted in injuries to three people, according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office. They were Vernon Stryker, 70, Prinsburg, the driver of one motorcycle, and passenger Charlotte Stryker, 71, of Prinsburg; and Susan Ahrenholz, 65, of Raymond, the driver of the second motorcycle.
Both motorcycles were northbound on County Road 1 when the Ahrenholz motorcycle struck the Stryker motorcycle, which had slowed to make a turn, the sheriff’s office said. All were taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar for treatment of injuries.
Accident
SPICER - The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office said a male individual slipped and hit his head on a boat Saturday at Green Lake. The incident was not listed as a boating accident. The individual was airlifted to St. Cloud. No other information was available. The sheriff’s office and Willmar Ambulance responded to the scene.
Burglary
WILLMAR - A Giant brand bike valued at $400 and a $100 saddle bag were taken in a burglary of a garage in the 1700 block of Ninth Street Southwest, according to Willmar Police. The burglary was investigated this Saturday.
SPICER - Cash, a Play Station and a tablet were taken from a residence in the 200 block of Miller Street in Spicer. The burglary was reported Sunday to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office.
Criminal damage
WILLMAR - Tires on a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer parked in the 1400 block of 19th Avenue Southwest were slashed, according to a report to Willmar Police. The incident happened Friday night.
Theft
WILLMAR - Willmar Police are awaiting a full report from Target in an investigation of possible employee theft of more than $1,000 in cash taken from cash registers. No other information was available.
