BENSON -- A 27-year-old Milan man suffered several life-threatening injuries in an accident and was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale at 8:19 p.m. Saturday, the Swift County Sheriff's Department reported.

Emmett Klucas was being treated in the intensive care unit, according to the Sheriff's Department.

He was driving a 1997 Ford pickup truck that was southbound on Swift County Road 15 when the pickup left the roadway, crashed and rolled several times. The accident occurred about a quarter-mile south of the intersection with County Road 20 in Tara Township.

Emergency responders transported Klucas to the Swift County-Benson Hospital where he was treated prior to being airlifted by a LifeLink helicopter to the Robbinsdale facility.

The Swift County Sheriff's Department along with the Clontarf First Responders, Benson Ambulance and Benson Fire Department responded to the scene.

GRANITE FALLS -- A Willmar man was treated at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital for injuries he suffered in a head-on collision around midnight Saturday at the intersection of State Highways 23 and 274 south of Granite Falls, according to the Minnesota State Patrol, Marshall.

Steven Carillo, 23, of Willmar, was driving a 1995 Mazda that collided with a 1996 Pontiac driven by Robert Caron, 67, of Milbank, S.D. Carillo and a passenger in his vehicle, Lillian Cruz, 27, address not available, were both treated at the Granite Falls Hospital. Caron was not injured. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

BUFFALO LAKE -- An Ivanhoe man was transported to Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and a Renville couple were transported to the Hutchinson Hospital for treatment of injuries they suffered in a rear-end type of crash at 9:03 a.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 212 east of Buffalo Lake, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Kent Pederson, 54, of Ivanhoe was transported to Abbott Northwestern. Carroll Hanson, 76, and Marvel Hanson, 78, were treated at the Hutchinson Hospital. The types of injuries were not reported.

Pederson was driving a 1997 Dodge Intrepid and Carroll Hanson was driving a 2001 Buick LeSabre.

Fires

WILLMAR -- Firefighters responded to two small grass fires Monday.

Firefighters doused a small grass fire at 1:33 p.m. Monday. It was reported by a rural electric crew working on the 3600 block of 15th Avenue Southeast. A spark ignited the grass.

Lake Lillian firefighters responded to a report of a grass fire at 11:18 a.m. Monday on the 11000 block of Kandiyohi County Road 40 Southeast. The caller reported that the fire was near a barn and truck.

Thefts

WILLMAR -- Willmar police are investigating two more cases where vehicles have been broken into and stereo systems stolen, both on 17th Street Southwest. A Willmar woman reported Sunday that her vehicle was broken into on the 1400 block of 17th Street Southwest and her car stereo system was stolen. The victim heard the alarm in the car sound at 4:30 a.m. but did not see anyone.

A Willmar man discovered his vehicle had been broken into Sunday on the 500 block of 17th Street Southwest.

WILLMAR -- A 1995 Dodge Stratus was reported stolen from the 500 block of 15th Street Southwest over the weekend. The window of the maroon-colored vehicle had been broken to gain entry.

SPICER -- Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department officers are investigating the possible theft of mail when two mailboxes were vandalized on the 64000 block of 60th Street Northeast. The incident was reported Sunday.
