GRANITE FALLS -- Six people were arrested on drug charges Wednesday afternoon by the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office after officers found marijuana, methamphetamine and another crystal-like substance in their vehicle.

According to a press release, deputies were called to a residence on a report of an unwanted person and that the suspect had two warrants for his arrest. The deputy located the vehicle and stopped it near the intersection of state Highway 23 and U.S. Highway 212 in Granite Falls. They took the suspect into custody. Another person in the vehicle gave a false name and was taken into custody.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found a large quantity of marijuana and a handgun in the center console. A drug detection dog signaled detecting something on multiple areas of the vehicle, leading officers to search for and find the meth and crystal substance.

Five of the individuals were taken into custody on fifth-degree possession of controlled substance charges and one was charged with third-degree possession

of a controlled substance.

Assisting at the scene were the Granite Falls Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Chippewa County Sheriff's Office and the Upper Sioux Police Department.

Theft

ATWATER -- The theft of three motorcycles and a tool box was reported around 12:50 p.m. Wednesday along the 10100 block of 180th Street Southeast.

WILLMAR -- The theft of a wallet was reported around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wal-Mart, 3031 S. First St.

SPICER -- The theft of water sporting equipment from a camper and shed was reported around 4 p.m. Wednesday along the 5800 block of 132nd Street Northwest.

WILLMAR -- The theft of a digital camera, valued at $410, was reported around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Days Inn, 225 28th Street Southeast.

SPICER -- The theft of an undetermined amount of gasoline from a gas barrel was reported around 11:40 a.m. Thursday from the Little Crow Country Club Golf Course, 15980 Highway 23 Northeast.
