* A 29-year-old Willmar man made his initial appearance Monday on a felony charge after allegedly threatening to kill his pregnant ex-girlfriend.

Francisco Javier Velasquez is facing a charge of terroristic threats. He was taken to jail after the inicident, but was released Tuesday after posting a $2,000 bond for conditional release.

Velasquez was charged after his ex-girlfriend reported Dec. 10 to the Willmar Police Department that she was threatened by him.

According to the complaint, Velasquez's ex-girlfriend is eight weeks pregnant and allegedly ended her relationship with Velasquez about a month ago. The pregnancy is from the woman's relationship with Velasquez, the complaint states. She has since moved to St. Cloud. Velasquez reportedly lives with the woman's stepfather in Willmar.

While the woman was visiting her stepfather Dec. 10, Velasquez allegedly threatened to kill her and kill her son from a separate relationship. He also allegedly called her at her home and made threats. A friend of the woman also heard some of the threats over the phone, according to the complaint.

Velasquez is scheduled to appear in court again Dec. 28.

* A 21-year-old Willmar man pleaded guilty Dec. 12 to a felony controlled substance violation after being arrested in November in downtown Willmar.

Pedro Martin III is charged with a felony charge for a fifth-degree controlled substance violation along with a misdemeanor charge for providing police with false information.

Martin pleaded guilty to the fifth-degree charge under the agreement that the misdemeanor charge would be dismissed.

Charges were filed against Martin after a Nov. 18 incident when a Willmar police officer was informed that Martin -- who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor theft charge -- was seen in attendance at Willmar's Holidaze Parade.

Accrdording to the complaint, Martin allegedly gave a police officer a false name and date of birth. He admitted to his real name shortly afterward and was placed under arrest. During the arrest, a glass pipe and plastic baggie containing methamphetamine were found in one of Martin's pockets.

Martin is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 18.

* A 22-year-old Willmar man made his initial appearance Monday on felony charges of assault after allegedly attacking and cutting another man with a knife.

Leroy Diaz Evans is facing felony charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and fifth-degree assault. Evans was held on unconditional bond of $75,000 or conditional bond of $25,000 after his first appearance.

Charges were filed against Evans after a Dec. 10 incident at the Regency Estates East where he allegedly cut another man with knife during a fight.

According to the complaint, the man who was allegedly cut by Evans is dating Evans' ex-girlfriend. Evans and his ex-girlfriend have a child together. Evans was allegedly caring for the child while his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend went shopping.

When the ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend attempted pick up the child, Evans' mother allegedly came out and started a fight with the ex-girlfriend. Evans and the boyfriend then allegedly started fighting, Willmar Police Sgt. Rick Kleinschmidt said. Sometime during the fight, Evans allegedly pulled out a knife, cutting the boyfriend's hand and arm.

Evans was later arrested by Renville County authorities shortly after 10 p.m. after fleeing to his girlfriend's home in Olivia, Kleinschmidt said.

Evans is scheduled to appear in court again Jan. 10.

* A 19-year-old Cosmos man pleaded guilty Dec. 14 to a felony charge of burglary stemming from a June incident when he burglarized a Spicer home.

Devin Delbert Donald Blom was charged with a felony count of first-degree burglary along with a misdemeanor charge of theft.

Blom pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second-degree burglary under the agreement that the misdemeanor charge would be dismissed.

Charges were filed against Blom after a June 16 incident when Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputies were called to Spicer to investigate a burglary.

According to the complaint, a Spicer man's home had been burglarized and his wife's purse taken. The purse was found after Blom was apprehended by the Lower Sioux Tribal Police in Redwood County. Blom was traveling in a stolen vehicle.

Three of the credit cards from the stolen purse were found in the vehicle with Blom. According to the complaint, Blom alleged that the credit cards belonged to his friend. The stolen vehicle Blom was driving had been reported stolen from a residence a half-mile away from the burglarized Spicer home. A footprint found at the burglarized home also matched the boots Blom was wearing, court documents state.

Blom is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 16.

* A 22-year-old Belgrade man made his initial appearance Monday on felony charges after allegedly threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend.

Bobby Joel Taylor is facing felony charges of harassment/stalking and terroristic threats after the October incident. Taylor is being held on unconditional bond of $20,000 with conditional release set at $7,500.

Charges were filed after a woman reported Oct. 25 to the Willmar Police Department that she was receiving harassing calls at her home.

According to the complaint, the woman had been dating Taylor and had ended the relationship Oct. 16. The next day she reported receiving 82 phone calls on her home phone from Taylor. He also allegedly called her at work. Taylor allegedly continued to repeatedly call the woman every day.

The woman also said she picked up the phone at one point and Taylor allegedly threatened to cut her. According to the complaint, police were able to link Taylor to the calls through the woman's caller ID.

Taylor is scheduled to appear in court again Jan. 9.

Assault

NEW LONDON -- Two Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputies responded to an assault report around 11 p.m. Tuesday along the 19000 block of 63rd Street Northeast. A 32-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 23-year-old Spicer man, according to the incident report filed with the Sheriff's Department.

Burglary

NEW LONDON -- A house was reported burglarized to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday along the 17000 block of Third Street Northeast.

Forgery

WILLMAR -- A report of check forgery was taken by the Willmar Police Department around 1:35 p.m. Tuesday along the 800 block of Ella Avenue Northwest.

Theft

WILLMAR -- The theft of a lighted reindeer was reported the Willmar Police Department around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday along the 600 block of 17th Street Southwest.

Fire call

NEW LONDON -- The New London Fire Department and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a fire in a chimney around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday along the 14000 block of 50th Street Northwest. Firefighters were on scene for about 30 minutes.
