District Court, Kandiyohi County

- A Renville man was jailed on $10,000 unconditional and $5,000 conditional bail Tuesday for failing to appear at his last scheduled court appearance.

According to court documents, Robert Allen Listerud, 37, of Renville, didn't show up to a court hearing on Dec. 9.

Listerud was released on his own recognizance on Dec. 5 for assault charges, which included fighting with three of his brothers.

According to that criminal complaint, on Dec. 3 Kandiyohi County Sheriff's deputies were called to a Spicer residence where four men said they'd been assaulted by Listerud.

They said that they and Listerud had been drinking most of the day and Listerud got angry and began shoving one of his brothers. Then another one of his brothers got involved, the complaint says.

Someone asked Listerud to leave and he did, but all four of the other people also went outside, the complaint says. Listerud became angry again and tried to hit one of the men, the complaint says. Another person broke it up, but soon Listerud began hitting people at random, witnesses said. He was punching and biting his brothers, the complaint says.

The men said Listerud was the only one doing any punching and the others were trying to calm him down, the complaint says.

The men all had injuries consistent with their story, the complaint says.

Listerud was located a few blocks away walking, the complaint says. He told deputies that he'd been fighting with his brothers at the Spicer residence.

In court Monday, Listerud said he was the victim of the assault and had been beat up by the other men, the complaint says.

He faces one count of third-degree assault, one count of fifth-degree assault and two counts of domestic assault.

According to the criminal complaint, Darrin Myles Brown, 39, allegedly passed a check forged on another person's account on Feb. 26, 2004.

Cashwise Foods contacted police about the check on July 7, 2004.

Video from the incident matched Brown and police then arrested him. He used a check from another man's account to but two cartons of cigarettes and a box of trash bags for $68.85, the complaint says.

Hutchinson Police also said a man of Brown's description also forged checks from the same account in Hutchinson last year, the complaint says.

Brown faces one count of offering a forged check.

Tuesday, his unconditional bail was set at $10,000 and his conditional bail was set at $1,000.

His next court date is set for Jan. 19.
