District Court, Kandiyohi County

Willmar woman was arraigned Tuesday on charges she stole money from deposits she was supposed to be making for a Willmar store.

According to the criminal complaint, Natasha Joy Amdahl, 20, allegedly stole $1,597.10 from Carrow's Formal Wear in the Kandi Mall.

A store manager contacted police saying that Amdahl was in charge of depositing money for the store and hadn't done so on four occasions in October and skimmed money from a deposit made in September, the complaint alleges.

Amdahl told the manager that she'd put the money in as soon as she could, but then never did, and didn't return his calls, the complaint says.

When interviewed by officers, she said she had the deposits in the glovebox of her car and she meant to deposit them, but she found that the money had been stolen, the complaint says. She said that she'd lent her vehicle to two men, and said she thought they might have stolen the money. However, those two men were arrested in Spicer that night and only had a collective $19 on them when arrested, the complaint says.

She faces one count of theft.

Tuesday, she was released on her own recognizance. Her next court date is set for Feb. 13.
