Kelly Lee Trotter, 28, of Hazel Run was sentenced on Tuesday to four years and six months in prison on a felony charge of driving while impaired.

Judge Michael Thompson gave Trotter credit for nearly nine months he already spent in jail.

The jury found Trotter guilty in January of first-degree felony DWI, first-degree refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving after revocation.

Trotter was convicted of DWI three times since December 1998, and his license was revoked each time.

Trotter was arrested in January 2005 after a 911 caller told authorities that a car was weaving and driving fast in the southbound lanes of Highway 71 and 23 near Eagle Lake.

A Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputy found Trotter on Highway 12 in Willmar, where he had blown out a tire.

According to the criminal complaint, Trotter refused to do field sobriety tests and refused to give a breath sample when he was arrested.
