* Jose Angel Cuellar Sr., 37, of Willmar, pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor charge of fifth-degree assault.
As part of a plea agreement, the charge was reduced from second-degree assault and another felony for terroristic threats was dismissed.
He was sentenced to one day in jail, a $150 fine and a year of probation.
The charges were filed after Willmar police were called on Sept. 17 to Regency Estates East where a man reported that Cuellar had swung a crow bar at him and had threatened to harm him and his family. The man said that he had asked Cuellar, who was visiting from Texas, to find another place to stay, as Cuellar and his family were staying with a relative who had health problems. The man said he told Cuellar that the relative did not need the stress of Cuellar’s family staying at his residence.
The man said that Cuellar was upset by the request, came after him with the crow bar and also threatened him. Another person had witnessed the assault and threat.
