Man dies in ATV accident near Blomkest

BLOMKEST – A 38-year-old man from St. Cloud was killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident Saturday night near Blomkest.

The incident, which involved just one driver and one ATV, was reported at 7:37 p.m. in the 100 block of 195th Avenue Southwest in Roseland Township.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, lifesaving efforts were attempted, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the victim has not yet been released and the incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

The Blomkest Fire Department, Blomkest First Responders, Lake Lillian Ambulance and the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.

Kidnapping

WILLMAR – A man and a woman are in the Kandiyohi County Jail in connection with an alleged kidnapping of a male victim who was tied up and threatened with a gun for 2-½ hours.

The incident was reported at 7:29 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of 18th Street Southwest.

According to the preliminary report, a 41-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were arrested and are being held on numerous charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, receiving stolen property, illegal possession of a gun and ammunition and drug-related charges.

Woman arrested after high-speed chase in Renville County

OLIVIA – A 26-year-old woman from Hutchinson was arrested Friday following a high-speed chase through Renville County.

According to a news release, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a traffic complaint of a white SUV traveling at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles in an unsafe manner on US Highway 212 entering Renville County.

At 11:32 a.m. a deputy located the vehicle near 440th Street going over 100 mph and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The pursuit continued down gravel roads and the vehicle was eventually stopped on 350th Street south of Olivia after a tire deflation device was deployed that damaged several tires on the vehicle.

The driver is being held in the Renville County Jail on several charges, including fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Olivia Police Department.

Accidents

ATWATER – The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a one-vehicle roll-over accident at 8:35 p.m. Friday on 180th Street Northeast and 120th Avenue Northeast. The unidentified driver was taken to Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital. According to the initial report a search warrant was executed to obtain a urine sample of the driver.

SPICER – Rescue personnel responded to a residence in the 6000 block of 140th Avenue Northeast at 6:46 p.m. Friday evening where a man fell from a tree while he was cutting it. The unidentified 27-year-old man was reportedly 25-30 feet up in the tree before he fell. The New London Ambulance and New London Fire Department responded to the accident.

Break-in

NEW LONDON – The Mill Pond Liquor store, located on Main Street in New London, reported a break-in at 1:41 a.m. Saturday. No further details were available.

Theft

WILLMAR – Police took a report at 1:18 p.m. Saturday that a phone, Xbox, coin collection and jewelry had been stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of Gorton Avenue Northwest.

Arrest

WILLMAR – Three women were arrested early Saturday morning on drug-related charges. The incident was reported at 1:18 a.m. in the 1300 block of Eighth Street Southwest. The women ranged in age from 41- 48.

Vandalism

WILLMAR – Graffiti was reported at 7:47 p.m. in the 2100 block of 15th Avenue Northwest.
