Arrests
SPICER -- A 17-year-old male was arrested at 12:33 a.m. Saturday at the boat access on Nest Lake on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. A 16-year-old male was also at the scene but was not cited.
WILLMAR -- An 18-year-old male was arrested at 12:34 a.m. Saturday after police responded to a report of a party in the 1000 block of Northwest 15th Avenue near Ridgewater College. Other individuals were questioned but not cited.
WILLMAR -- Police arrested a 22-year-old Kandiyohi man at 11 p.m. Friday in Willmar on charges of a possessing a weapon. The man was also charged with reckless driving. Police transported the individual to Meeker County.
WILLMAR -- An 18-year-old Spicer man was arrested shortly before midnight Friday on Northwest 15th Avenue and 24th Street. The teen was charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

ATWATER -- A 52-year-old Atwater man was arrested Saturday afternoon for driving an all-terrain vehicle while intoxicated. The incident occurred at 2:39 p.m. on North Minnesota Avenue. The man was arrested for driving while under the influence on an ATV, driving after cancellation and for disorderly conduct.
Assault
WILLMAR -- A 20-year-old woman from Atwater told police early Friday morning that she'd been raped in the elevator of the Willmar Highrise. She made the report at 3:24 a.m., after she'd been pulled over by police on East Highway 12 and was undergoing a field sobriety test.
Police viewed the surveillance tape at the Highrise elevator and determined that the sexual encounter involving the woman was consensual. Police said they suspected the woman said she'd been assaulted as a ploy to avoid charges of driving while impaired. According to a preliminary police report, the woman was charged with two counts of fourth-degree driving while impaired and with having an open bottle.
WILLMAR -- An 18-year-old male was assaulted and possibly robbed by a group of people over the weekend. The report was filed at 3:28 a.m. Saturday with the Willmar Police Department.
WILLMAR -- A woman told police that she suspected she may have been sexually assaulted sometime Friday or Saturday. She said she'd been drinking with a male companion, took a shot of tequila and didn't remember anything following that time. She told police she woke up in the morning without any clothes on.
Theft
WILLMAR -- A 19-year-old woman from Pennock and a 19-year-old man from Willmar were arrested at 10:36 p.m. Friday for shoplifting from the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Willmar. They were both charged with theft and liability for crimes of another.

WILLMAR -- Two checks stolen about a year ago from a residence in Ellendale were used to make a $249 purchase at a Willmar hotel and a $138 purchase at a Willmar discount store recently. The incident was reported at 2:53 p.m. Sunday.
Burglary
NEW LONDON -- A homeowner reported at 6:39 p.m. Friday that his garage had been broken into. The incident took place in the 20000 block of Northeast 121st Street.
Accident
WILLMAR -- Ibrahim M. Omar, 19, of Willmar, was injured Friday when the vehicle he was driving collided with a vehicle driven by Shannon Lee Erickson, 32, of Willmar. The accident occurred at 3:23 p.m. at 1401 SW 5th St.
WILLMAR -- Three people, including a toddler, suffered minor injuries in a one-car rollover early Sunday morning. The incident occurred on West Highway 12 and 60th Street at 1:19 a.m. The driver was identified as Diane Marie Cox, 21, of Willmar. Her passengers were identified as Nicole Marie Champagne, 2, of Willmar and Chantal Kasky, 18, of Willmar. Police were notified of the accident after they received a call from Rice Memorial Hospital that personnel were treating individuals injured in a car accident.
Fire
ATWATER -- Fire crews and other emergency personnel spent about two hours responding to the report of a car on fire in a slough early Saturday morning. The initial report, filed at 2:53 a.m., said the caller was unsure if there were people inside the vehicle in a slough along Northeast Kandiyohi County Road 137 and 38th Avenue.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, the incident involved someone who was "screwing around" and driving in a field when the vehicle got stuck.
It's suspected that the catalytic converter ignited the grass and the vehicle caught fire. The driver fled the scene by the time crews arrived.
Vandalism
WILLMAR -- Tires were slashed on a vehicle in the 400 block of Southeast Lakeland Drive. The incident was reported at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
