- A New London man was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 28 of which he's already served, Wednesday for possession of methamphetamine and not having vehicle insurance.

According to the criminal complaint, Barry Mark Lemire Jr., 34, was pulled over in New London by a Kandiyohi County Sheriff 's deputy on June 19 after the deputy realized Lemire's license was suspended.

In a search of Lemire's person, the deputy found a drug pipe and an "Altoid's" box with two bags of methamphetamine weighing 2.2 and 1.7 grams. In the vehicle, the deputy found two grams of marijuana and a pipe used for snorting drugs.

One count of possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, one count of driving after suspension and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia - prohibited were dismissed as part of his plea Tuesday. The fifth-degree controlled substance crime had been amended from third-degree.

He was also given five years probation, $1,215 in fines and will have to enroll in a chemical dependency program, among other conditions.

He was sentenced by Judge Kathryn Smith.

- A New London man was charged with attempting to have sex with a minor female.

According to the criminal complaint, Jon Robert Clark, 21, tried to have sex with a 15-year-old girl on Oct. 28.

The complaint says that the girl was at a party and Clark was at the house. Clark asked the girl to come with him to get cigarettes and during the ride, tried to kiss and grab the girl, the complaint says.

Back at the house, he allegedly pulled down the girl's pants and penetrated her twice, the complaint says. The girl ran away and was crying.

Clark kept attempting to talk with the girl afterwards, but later left.

Clark knew the girl's age, the girl told police.

He told police that she'd been hitting on him and tried to get him to make out with her, the complaint says. He admitted that he'd helped her take her pants down, but then said he didn't' do anything, the complaint says.

Four witnesses at the party said that the girl had been crying at the party and several of them said that the girl said that Clark had made sexual advances to her, the complaint says.

The complaint says that Clark was convicted when he was 14 of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl in December 1997.

He faces one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

His unconditional bail was set at $75,000 and his conditional release was set at $60,000 bond and $10,000 cash.

Burglary

SPICER - A fish house was reported burglarized Wednesday morning on Nest Lake. The door was reported broken in and an ice augur and a propane tank were reported stolen.
