Fires
WILLMAR -- Fire destroyed a vehicle Saturday night at the junction of Kandiyohi County highways 90 and 9 north of Willmar.
The occupants of the vehicle, including two children, managed to escape without injury. The vehicle was engulfed in flames by the time Willmar firefighters arrived.
PAYNESVILLE -- An early morning fire destroyed a barn Sunday on a farm southeast of Roscoe. Eleven sows and 60 piglets that were in the barn also died in the fire.
The fire was reported shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday by a passerby who called the Stearns County Sheriff's Department. By the time the Paynesville Fire Department and Paynesville Ambulance arrived, the building was engulfed.

A nearby barn also was damaged by heat and flames.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The property owners are Ronald and Marlene Schlangen.
Arrests
WILLMAR -- A 27-year-old suspect was arrested early Sunday morning in connection with an attempted assault involving a baseball bat.
Charges pending against the man include second-degree assault and terroristic threats. He was taken into custody by Willmar police after the incident was reported at about 3 p.m. Sunday at SuperAmerica.
RAYMOND -- In a separate incident, two suspects in a burglary were arrested shortly after midnight Friday in Raymond. The burglary was reported Friday evening in Willmar.
Vandalism
Willmar police and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department investigated a rash of weekend vandalism to parked cars in Pennock and on the west side of Willmar in the neighborhood of 11th Street Southwest and Becker Avenue.

Windows were smashed on some of the vehicles. Most of the damage took place Friday night or early Saturday morning.
