Pyramid scam
WILLMAR -- A Willmar woman reported to the Willmar Police Department on Thursday afternoon that she had received a letter saying she had won $800,000. The letter, mailed from Kansas, was part of a pyramid scam from a person claiming to be an attorney. The recipient was asked to send money to a list of people before she would be eligible to collect her "prize money."
Arrest
WILLMAR -- A 28-year-old Willmar man was arrested late Thursday afternoon by Willmar police for driving after suspension. The man was also suspected of a gas drive-off at Sunray Square earlier that afternoon, according to the initial police report.
