* A 21-year-old Willmar man pleaded guilty to a felony charge Jan. 17 for allegedly using another man's bank card to make more than $1,800 worth of purchases.

Josue Aminadab Sauceda Pena faced a charge of financial transaction card fraud after allegedly making numerous charges on a credit card he found.

Pena pleaded guilty to the felony charge Jan. 17 in front of Judge Kathryn N. Smith. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed not to ask for any jail time at sentencing.

Charges were filed against Pena after the Montevideo Police Department received a report of numerous purchases being made to a man's credit card. The man thought he had lost the credit card in Willmar.

More than $1,800 was charged to the credit card at fast-food restaurants, department stores and grocery stores.

According to the criminal complaint, Willmar police officers were able to identify Pena from surveillance video at Cash Wise. When questioned, Pena allegedly admitted to finding the card and using it.

Pena is set to be sentenced Feb. 26.

Window smashed

WILLMAR -- A car window was reported broken to the Willmar Police Department around 8:30 p.m. Monday in the Kandi Mall parking lot, 1605 S. First St.

For the second night in a row a car parked in the mall parking lot has been reported vandalized or broken into. A stereo was reported stolen around 5:10 p.m. Sunday. The window broken Monday night is valued around $200.

SPICER -- The theft of fishing equipment from a fish house was reported to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department around 3:05 p.m. Monday from the Nest Lake boat access, 13911 County Road 9.

WILLMAR -- The theft of a cell phone was reported to the Willmar Police Department around 3:35 p.m. Monday along the 1100 block of Sixth Street Southwest. A 12-year-old Willmar boy later admitted to taking and using the phone and then throwing it away. A Willmar police officer later found the broken phone in a dumpster.

WILLMAR -- The misuse of a credit card was reported to the Willmar Police Department around 5:55 p.m. Monday along the 300 block of 17th Street Northwest. The caller's ex-girlfriend was reportedly using the credit card without permission.

WILLMAR -- Two adult females were detained after alleged shoplifting and reported to the Willmar Police Department around 4:55 p.m. Monday at Herbergers, 1605 S. First St.

WILLMAR -- The theft of a PlayStation Portable was reported to the Willmar Police Department around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday from the Willmar Senior High School, 2701 30th St. N.E. The portable gaming system is valued around $300.
