Rural Benson stunned 4 times before arrest
BENSON -- A rural Benson man had to be jolted at least four times with a police stun gun Sunday before submitting to authorities.
The incident started when the Swift County Sheriff's Department was notified that a pickup truck was parked in the westbound lane of U.S. Highway 12, just west of Murdock. The deputy determined that the male driver, who was the only person in the truck, was likely under the influence of alcohol or drugs and attempted to arrest him.
According to a press release from the Sheriff's Department, the 32-year-old man attempted to drive away and the deputy used his stun gun twice. As the deputy continued to struggle with the man, a Benson police officer arrived at the scene and used his stun gun twice on the suspect.
The man was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody.

He was taken to the Swift County-Benson Hospital and examined for minor injuries that he suffered in the scuffle and taken to the Kandiyohi County Jail. He faces charges of third-degree driving while impaired, resisting arrest and obstructing legal process.
Neither officer was injured in the incident.
Theft
WILLMAR -- A Willmar family called police Monday evening to report that their puppies had been stolen from an outdoor doghouse. It was later discovered that the puppies had crawled underneath the floor of the doghouse and all were present.
WILLMAR -- Two boys, ages 11 and 14, were cited for being in possession of stolen property Monday morning after the owner of the bike saw it in their possession.
Drugs in the park
WILLMAR -- A woman told police Monday evening that kids at Rice Park had attempted to put a marijuana cigarette into her daughter's mouth. The girl ran home and told her mother about the incident. The incident was reported at 6:19 p.m.

WILLMAR -- Authorities are investigating whether a drug deal may have occurred Monday night at the Vinje Lutheran Cemetery on Becker Avenue Southeast. A citizen reported seeing a car in the cemetery at 8:30 p.m. A male walking on foot approached the vehicle and handed a package to the individual in the car. Both parties then left. The case was referred to the CEE-VI drug task force.
