Four teens injured Monday in Willmar crash
WILLMAR - Four teens were injured in a two-vehicle side-swipe type accident Monday night on U.S. Highway 71 and 37th Avenue north of Willmar.
According to the State Patrol, Jayme Hamlander, 19, of Hutchinson, was driving a 2009 Chrysler Sebring northbound in the right lane of Highway 71 when she made a left-turn in front of a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Savannah Miller, 19, of Willmar, that was going north in the left lane.
Miller and Hamlander, as well as two passengers in Hamlander’s vehicle - Shanel Goranowski, 18, of Hutchinson, and Madeline Squier, 18, of Hutchinson - were all taken to Rice Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident was reported at 10:07 p.m.
The road was wet at the time. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident and all involved were wearing seatbelts, according to the State Patrol.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department assisted the State Patrol in responding to the incident.
Two injured in crash north of Renville
RENVILLE - Two were injured in a crash Monday night north of Renville in Crooks Township.
Hunter Hanson, 19, of Renville was reportedly traveling south on Renville County Road 21, near 890th Avenue, when his vehicle traveled onto the loose shoulder of the road, according to a news release from the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.
He lost control of the vehicle, which then entered the ditch and rolled over multiple times.
Hanson and his passenger, Selena Landros, 18, of Olivia, were transported to Renville County Hospital for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation continues by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office. Both Hanson and Landros were reportedly wearing seatbelts and were not ejected from the vehicle, according to the news release.
Responding to the accident were the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Renville Police Department, Renville Ambulance and Renville Fire and Rescue.
Man arrested following traffic stop Monday in Willmar
WILLMAR - A man was arrested at 2:25 p.m. Monday following a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 Northeast and 66th Avenue Northeast.
He faces charges of driving under the influence, fifth-degree drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, Police Chief Jim Felt said.
