Kandiyohi man injured in New London crash

NEW LONDON - An 83-year-old Kandiyohi man was transported early Tuesday to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar after his vehicle was broadsided by a semi-truck on state Highway 23 in New London.

Jack A. Skrukrud suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the 7:52 a.m. crash, the State Patrol said.

Skrukrud's 1999 Chevy Suburban was T-boned by the semi as he turned onto Highway 23 from state Highway 9.

The semi, a 2016 Kenworth, was driven by Tyler J. Fetters, 26, of Milaca. His father, 53-year-old Donald L. Fetters, also of Milaca, was a passenger in the semi. Neither were injured.

Skrukrud was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital following the crash. All were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor, the Patrol said. Road conditions were dry at the time.

Assault

WILLMAR - An assault was reported to the Willmar Police Department just after 4:30 p.m. Monday on the 500 block of Lakeland Drive Southeast. One victim reportedly had cuts on her face following the altercation. Neither of the two involved wanted to press charges. The Willmar Police Department and Willmar Ambulance responded to the scene.

Drugs

WILLMAR - A woman on the 500 block of 19th Avenue Southeast reportedly found a small ziploc bag of marijuana just before 6:30 p.m. Monday. The woman reported the drugs to the Willmar Police Department, and an officer confiscated the drugs and logged i as evidence to be destroyed.

Identity theft

WILLMAR - Two people reportedly stole a Willmar woman's Social Security information and used it as their own, the woman reported to the Willmar Police Department shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday. The woman, on the 100 block of Trott Avenue Southeast, requested to talk with an officer about the theft.

Unfounded disturbance reported at fairgrounds

WILLMAR - Police responded to the Kandiyohi County fairgrounds just before 11 p.m. Monday on the 900 block of Seventh Street Northwest on a report that the gate had been struck. Police did not locate anyone inside the fairgrounds.

Drug arrest

ATWATER - The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office arrested a 24-year-old man following a drug search warrant arrest involving a K-9 dog on the 1900 block of 180th Street Southeast in Atwater. The man was booked into the Kandiyohi County Jail, pending charges of fifth-degree drug possession and firearm possession as an ineligible person.

Mail theft

WILLMAR - Just after 12:30 p.m. Monday, a woman reported to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office that she was missing multiple items of mail, including Social Security paperwork, a birth certificate, divorce decree, marriage certificate, and work ID. A deputy advised the woman of her options.

Shoplifting

WILLMAR - The Willmar Walgreens store on the 1300 block of First Street South reported the theft of a Verizon Ellipsis tablet sometime Saturday. The theft was reported at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
