Fatal car accident

KERKHOVEN-A 53-year-old Murdock man died Tuesday in a car crash just north of Kerkhoven.

According to the Swift County Sheriff's Office, Robert Fischer was pronounced dead at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, where he had been transported following the crash.

The one-vehicle crash happened around 12:45 p.m. Fischer drove his vehicle into a ditch on Swift County Road 35 near 80th Street, the sheriff's office said.

He was unresponsive when deputies and emergency responders from Kerkhoven Ambulance and Fire Departments arrived on the scene.

An autopsy is pending, the sheriff's office said, and the incident is still under investigation.

Vehicle through the ice

NEW LONDON - A truck partially went through the ice on the north side of Lake Monongalia at 3:42 a.m. Saturday.

The driver, Matthew Wahl, 37, of Sartell and passenger Karen Thompson, 46, of New London were not injured.

The incident happened about 50 yards offshore from the north access on Kandiyohi County Road 33. The vehicle was removed from the lake.

Fake bills

WILLMAR - There were two reports of counterfeit $100 bills being used in Willmar businesses over the weekend.

Between 6 and 7 p.m. on Friday a business at the 800 block of 1st Street South an employee said they noticed a counterfeit bill had passed through when closing the till.

In the early morning hours of Sunday a business at the 500 block of Litchfield Avenue Southeast reported receiving another $100 counterfeit bill.

Crash

WILLMAR - A driver who backed into another vehicle was arrested on unrelated warrants from Sibley County. The crash took place around 1:09 a.m Saturday at the 300 block of 7th Street Southwest in Willmar. Minor damage was done to the vehicles.

Weapons Compliant

PENNOCK - A caller reported to law enforcement that a neighbor shot a family member's dog with a BB gun around 2:52 p.m. Saturday at the 200 block of 3rd Street Northeast in Pennock. An individual was cited for cruelty to animals.

Criminal damage to property

WILMAR - A report was made of someone ramming a vehicle around 3:12 a.m. Sunday at the 600 block of 5th Street Southwest in Willmar. According to the law enforcement report a female driver was upset about someone visiting another individual and used her vehicle to ram the other vehicle.
