Man airlifted from scene of Saturday afternoon crash
PRINSBURG - A Sacred Heart man was airlifted from the scene of a crash Saturday afternoon in southern Kandiyohi County.
David Benson, 32, of Sacred Heart, was driving a Ford pickup north on County Road 1 at 210th Avenue Southwest, about a mile south of Prinsburg. He lost control on the ice-covered road when he attempted to pass another vehicle, according to a report from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office.
The vehicle overturned in the northbound ditch, and Benson was airlifted from the scene and taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Four passengers, two adults and two children, were not injured. Their identities were not listed. Everyone in the vehicle was properly restrained, according to the report. The vehicle being passed was not involved in the crash.

Assisting at the scene were Prinsburg Fire Department and first responders, Raymond Ambulance, Willmar Ambulance, North Memorial Air Care and the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad.
Saturday morning crashes cause injuries in Chippewa, Renville counties
Two crashes in the area Saturday morning resulted in injuries, according to the State Patrol.
A two-vehicle crash at 9:16 a.m. at the intersection of state Highway 23 and 70th Street Southeast in Stoneham Township, Chippewa County, resulted in injuries to one of the drivers.
A Ford pickup and a Pontiac Grand Prix collided at the intersection, according to the State Patrol report. The pickup was westbound on 70th Street and pulled on to Highway 23. The Pontiac was moving south on Highway 23. Air bags deployed in both vehicles.
The driver of the Pontiac, Larry Lee Lamote, 54, of Marshall, was transported to Granite Falls Hospital and transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
According to the State Patrol report, the name of the 16-year-old driver of the pickup was not released due to pending charges.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, Clara City Ambulance, Clara City Fire Department and Maynard Police Department assisted at the scene.

Seven people were taken to Granite Falls Hospital after a single-vehicle rollover at 11:16 a.m. on Highway 212 near Renville County Road 10 in Hawk Creek Township. A 2016 Ford Transit van was westbound on Highway 212 when it hit a patch of ice, went out of control and rolled over in the south ditch, according to the State Patrol report.
The van came to rest on its roof. The occupants were taken to Granite Falls Hospital. One passenger had a minor injury, and the others were checked and released.
The driver was identified as Kelby Trent Brothen, 63, and the passengers were identified as Caleb Horlien, 14, Cadan Neterer, 15, Samuel Ojeboda, 15, Ethan Reed, 17, Isaac Reed, 15, and Aaron Willins, 7. No city of residence was listed for any of the people in the van.
Ethan Reed was listed as the passenger who was injured.
Isaac Reed was listed as not wearing a seat belt. All others were belted.
The Renville County Sheriff's Office, Granite Falls Ambulance and Sacred Heart Fire Department assisted.
Fire
WILLMAR - The Willmar Fire Department was called to a fire on an enclosed porch of a house near the intersection of Trott Avenue and Charlotte Street Southeast. The fire was reported at 5:52 p.m. Saturday.

Burglary
RAYMOND - A resident in the 200 block of Menage Avenue reported that a the back door had been broken, and it appeared that someone had gone through items in the home. The damage was reported at 9 p.m. Friday.
WILLMAR - A resident in the 1100 block of Elizabeth Avenue Southeast reported that a debit card and other items had been stolen from the home and that the basement had been damaged. The theft was reported at 4:12 p.m. Saturday.
PENNOCK - Tools were taken from a motor vehicle in the 6400 block of U.S. Highway 12, and the gas line appeared to have been cut. The theft was reported at 9:31 p.m. Saturday.
