Montevideo man uninjured in vehicle crash that killed motorcyclist

DETROIT LAKES — Travis Milo Bertek, 37, of Montevideo, was not hurt when the 2021 Dodge Ram in which he was a passenger was involved in a vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist around 4:35 p.m. Saturday on Highway 34 and Highland Drive in Detroit Lakes.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol report , the fatality was a 74-year-old man from Detroit Lakes. The State Patrol had not released his identity prior to the West Central Tribune's news deadline.

The report said the Ram, driven by Elizabeth Ann Schenatzki, 37, of Ogema, and the 1995 Harley-Davidson Cruiser, were both traveling eastbound on Highway 34 when they collided.

Schenatzki and a second passenger, Luke Dennis Weidemann, 37, of Detroit Lakes, were not injured. None of the people in the Ram were wearing a seat belt, according to the report. Alcohol was not involved.

Assisting at the scene were the Becker County Sheriff's Office, Detroit Lakes Police Department and Essentia Ambulance.
