Burglary reported
at Willmar church
WILLMAR - Thousands of dollars of items were reportedly stolen during a burglary this week of a church in downtown Willmar.
The burglary was reported around 11:35 a.m. Sunday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, located at 422 Sixth Street Southwest, according to police reports.
A computer monitor and several brass, silver and gold items had been stolen from inside the church. The 911 caller said the items were taken sometime after July 12.
Police reportedly found no signs of forced entry. No suspects have been identified, according to police reports.
Accidents
WAVERLY - A Cosmos teenager was reportedly involved in a collision with a motorcyclist Saturday afternoon in Waverly.
The collision was reported at 4:37 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 and Sixth Street South, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Brianna M. Meyer, 17, was reportedly traveling southbound along Sixth Street South in a Buick Park Avenue. Her vehicle reportedly collided with a motorcycle while she attempted to cross Highway 12.
The motorcyclist, Adam M. Myers, 38, of Annandale, was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the State Patrol, Meyer was not injured in the crash. Her three passengers, Kristin L. Litzau, 16, of Grove City, Damon S. Morse, 18, and Zachary J. Horstman, 21, of Maple Lake, also were not injured.
KINGSTON - A 21-year-old Cokato woman was injured in an accident Saturday afternoon near Kingston.
Kimberly A. Moy was traveling south on Minnesota Highway 15 in a Oldsmobile Alero at the time of the accident. Moy was stopped for traffic at 345th Street when her vehicle was rear-ended by a Ford Edge driven by Sharon L. Hodgmann, 66, of Claremont, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Moy was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield for what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Moy’s passenger, Meagan V. Schrafft, 21, of Lakeville, was not injured, the State Patraol said.
Neither Hodgmann nor her passenger, Frank J. Hodgmann, 74, of Claremont, were injured in the crash.
Arrests
NEW LONDON - A 65-year-old man was arrested for driving while impaired following a traffic stop at 12:45 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Highway 71 Northeast and Kandiyohi County Road 40 Northeast.
WILLMAR - A 38-year-old man was arrested for driving while impaired following report of a crash at 1:23 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Business 71 North.
WILLMAR - A 27-year-old woman was arrested for driving while impaired and driving after revocation following a traffic stop at 2:12 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Highway 71 Northeast and 37th Avenue Northeast. A 28-year-old male passenger was reportedly arrested on a warrant during the traffic stop.
Criminal damage to property
WILLMAR - It was reported at 9:23 a.m. Saturday that tires on a vehicle had been slashed in the 1400 block of Fifth Street Southwest.
SPICER - It was reported at 1:19 p.m. Sunday in the 4700 block of 97th Avenue Northeast that a mailbox was destroyed by someone placing fireworks inside of it.
Fire
WILLMAR - An ice house reportedly caught fire Saturday morning in west Willmar.
The fire was reported at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of 30th Street Northwest. It was reported that storms had caused an electrical fire in the ice house. A battery in the ice house reportedly melted material and caused Saturday morning’s fire.
The fire was reportedly extinguished by the time police arrived. The Willmar Fire Department was dispatched to assess the scene.
