BIRD ISLAND - The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was called at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday to a two-vehicle crash on Renville County Road 4 at the intersection with Renville County Road 5, about 7 miles south of Bird Island.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Freightliner conventional cab truck driven by Jason Anderson, 35, of Litchfield, was traveling west on County Road 4. The sheriff’s office said Anderson failed to yield the right away to a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Nilda Garza, 42, of Bird Island and traveling south on County Road 5.
Garza and her juvenile passenger were transported to Renville County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Assisting on scene were the Franklin Ambulance Service and North Memorial Ambulance. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.

WILLMAR - The Willmar Police Department said two people were injured in a one-vehicle rollover at 11:55 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Ella Avenue and Gorton Avenue Northwest.
They were the driver, Jordan Schorn, 17, of Willmar, and passenger, Juan Guzman, 12, of Willmar. The crash happened when Schorn lost control of the 2002 Ford Explorer and struck a light pole. Both Schorn and Guzman were taken by private vehicles to Rice Hospital in Willmar.
Fatal crash


MADISON - The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash Tuesday morning at the intersection of U.S. Highway 212 and Lac qui Parle County Road 7.
The patrol said the crash involved a 2013 Volvo tractor driven by Gordon J. Armstrong, 55, of Chokio. Armstrong suffered no apparent injury, the patrol said.
The patrol Tuesday afternoon had not released the name of the driver of a 2009 Chevy Silverado that was also involved in the crash.
The Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

WILLMAR - Willmar Police said two vehicles parked in the 500 block of Ninth Street Northwest and three vehicles parked in the 800 block of 13th Street Southwest were entered Monday night. Most of the items taken from the cars on Ninth Street Northwest were found across the street. No other items were missing.
