Two injured in crash west of Cottonwood

COTTONWOOD — Law enforcement and emergency medical services responded to a crash around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday between a semitractor-trailer and a farm tractor pulling a sprayer at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and 170th Avenue, according to a Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office news release.

According to the release, the semi, driven by Steve Christenson, of Bird Island, rear-ended the tractor, driven by Jonah Dovre, of Porter, as Dovre was making a left hand turn off of Highway 59.

Christenson was extricated from the the semi and transported by North Air Care Helicopter to North Memorial in Robbinsdale with unknown injuries.

Darlene Christenson, a passenger in the semi, was taken by Cottonwood Ambulance to the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall

Dovre had no signs of injury, according to the release.

The Yellow Medicine Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.

The Cottonwood Fire Department and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident.

Domestic assault

WILLMAR — A 37-year-old man was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Monday on the 800 block of Pleasant View Drive Southeast for a domestic assault. According to the report, he was intoxicated and grabbed his spouse's hair.

DWI

WILLMAR — A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired around 3:30 p.m. Monday following a vehicle crash with a telephone pole on the corner of Willmar Avenue and Sixth Street Southeast.

Threats of violence

WILLMAR — A 29-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 600 block of Litchfield Avenue Southwest. According to the report, the man was arrested for threats of violence, disorderly conduct and trespassing.

Warrant

NEW LONDON — A 38-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant around 2:25 p.m. Tuesday on the 6000 block of 191st Avenue Northeast.

Trespass

WILLMAR — Around 8:25 p.m. Monday, a man was cautioned against trespassing for one year at Running's on the 3000 block of First Street South.

Fraud

WILLMAR — A fraud was reported around 10:05 a.m. Tuesday on the 1800 block of First Street South. According to the report, it was a financial transaction card fraud.

Railroad arm hit

WILLMAR — A semitractor nipped a malfunctioning railroad crossing arm around 8:10 a.m. Tuesday on the corner of 30th Street Northwest and U.S. Highway 12 West. According to the report, the arm broke off.
