High-speed pursuit ends in Willmar
ATWATER — A Willmar man was arrested following a high-speed pursuit after an attempted traffic stop Wednesday morning, according to a Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office news release.
According to the release, the 37-year-old was stopped around 9:10 a.m. Wednesday in a gray 2012 Cadillac CTS on U.S. Highway 12 near 120th Street Northeast by a CEE-VI Task Force agent.
When the agent attempted to get the man out of his vehicle for a field test, he refused and then fled the scene in his vehicle.
The man fled westbound on Highway 12 at speeds between 60 and 90 mph, the release said. He was pursued by the agent and a Kandiyohi County sheriff's deputy.
On Highway 12, near Haug Implement and County Road 9, a couple of attempts were made to use fire deflation equipment by law enforcement that proved to be unsuccessful.

The man surrendered to law enforcement at this time with no resistance.
Charges are pending against the man. The West Central Tribune does not typically name suspects before they are charged.
There was minor damage to the suspect vehicle and a Sheriff’s Office vehicle during the pursuit intervention technique.
