Driver injured in Lac qui Parle County crash

ORTONVILLE — Alcohol was believed to be a factor in a one-vehicle crash late Thursday night in Lac qui Parle County that injured the driver.

According to the State Patrol, Antony James Loehrer, 47, of Madison, was driving a 2012 Chrysler 200 east on 390th Street in Yellow Bank Township when the vehicle went into the ditch, rolled and landed on its wheels.

Loehrer, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was taken to the Ortonville hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Loehrer was wearing a seat belt and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, which was reported at 11:20 p.m. Thursday.

According to the State Patrol report, alcohol was detected.

The Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office, Big Stone County Sheriff’s Office, Ortonville Police Department, Ortonville Fire Department and the Ortonville Ambulance all assisted at the scene.

New London firefighters attacks pole shed fire

NEW LONDON — The New London Fire Department was called to a structure fire Thursday morning in the 16000 block of 54th Street Northesast

A neighbor called to report seeing smoke and flames coming from a pole shed at the residence. When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were showing from the exterior of the structure, according to a news release from the fire department.

Firefighters made an aggressive attack and were able to contain the fire to the back wall of the shed, according to the release. With most of the contents and structure saved, damage was estimated at $10,000. The cause is believed to be accidental.

Assisting at the scene were the Spicer Fire Department, New London Ambulance and Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department.
