Litchfield man dies in crash

RANDALL - A Litchfield man was killed Saturday in a one-car crash in Morrison County.

According to the State Patrol, Richard K. Larson, 64, was driving a 2005 Chevy Silverado east on U.S. Highway 10 on Saturday afternoon near Randall when the vehicle entered the ditch, struck a road sign, continued up an embankment, went through a barbed-wire fence, collided with several small trees and came to rest in the backyard of a Randall residence.

The accident was reported at 12:25 p.m. Saturday.

Road conditions were dry at the time and Larson was wearing a seatbelt, according to the State Patrol.

Woman injured in Atwater crash

ATWATER - An 18-year-old woman from Buffalo Lake was trapped in her car Sunday night following a one-vehicle crash in rural Atwater.

Amanda Kay Anderson was extricated from a 2001 Ford Ranger by the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad. The Ranger had been left tipped on its side after the 10:20 p.m. crash near the intersection of 195th Street and 120th Avenue Northeast.

Anderson had minor injuries including shoulder pain. Atwater Fire and Ambulance, Willmar Ambulance, and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.

Abuse to service dog

WILLMAR - An employee at DREAM Technical Academy on the 1700 block of 16th Street Northeast reported that her service dog had been kicked by someone at the school. The woman said other employees had witnessed the kick as well. The incident was reported just before 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Shoplifting

WILLMAR - A pair of shoes and a jacket were reported stolen at 1 p.m. Monday from J.C. Penney on the 1600 block of First Street South in Willmar. A store employee reported the theft to the Willmar Police Department.

Suspicious vehicles in church parking lot

WILLMAR - After hours at Redeemer Lutheran Church on the 1400 block of Sixth Street Southwest, cars have repeatedly been seen "congregating" in the church parking lot, according to a report to the Willmar Police Department. A man told police he believed the vehicle occupants were either using the church WiFi or that possible drug activity was taking place, but was not able to confirm. Extra patrol was requested in the area.

Possible vehicle break-in

WILLMAR - Scratch tickets were reported stolen from a vehicle overnight Sunday on the 900 block of 120th Avenue Southeast. A woman told the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office that other valuable property like her iPod was still in the vehicle. She also said she could smell smoke when she got into her car, even though no one in her family smokes. The theft was reported just before 9 a.m. Monday.

Criminal damage to property

SPICER - A shed door was damaged on the 200 block of Sixth Avenue in Spicer. A man reported the damage to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office just before 10:30 a.m. Monday.
