Pennock woman killed by pickup is identified
WILLMAR - The 52-year-old Pennock woman who died Saturday afternoon after being pinned under a pickup truck was identified as Valery Jean Kallevig, Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog said Monday.
Kallevig had been working around a pickup that had been jacked up for repairs in a garage on 21st Avenue Northwest between Willmar and Pennock. The Sheriff’s Office was called at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday to the accident scene.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident, said Hartog.
ATV accident in Morgan injures two juveniles
MORGAN - Two juveniles suffered injuries from an all-terrain vehicle crash Saturday evening in rural Morgan, according to a news release from the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office.
A 15-year-old girl was reportedly driving a Polaris Ranger ATV around 7:40 p.m. Saturday when it overturned, ejecting the juvenile and her passengers.
The driver was airlifted by North AirCare to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and her juvenile passenger transported by North Ambulance to Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls.
The crash remains under investigation. Also responding to the accident were the Minnesota State Patrol, Morgan Fire and Ambulance, Morgan Police, North Ambulance and North AirCare.
Vehicle crashes into ditch south of Litchfield
CEDAR MILLS - An accident Saturday morning south of Litchfield injured a 64-year-old Richfield man, according to a news release from the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
Bruce Larson was driving westbound on Minnesota Highway 7 near 590th Avenue in Cedar Mills Township when he reportedly lost control of his 1999 Buick LeSabre Limited and it entered the ditch, hitting a group of trees.
Larson was transported to Hutchinson Hospital by Cosmos Ambulance. His vehicle sustained moderate damage.
Responding to the accident were Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Cosmos Rescue and Cosmos Ambulance.
Campaign leads to seatbelt citations
WILLMAR - A number of people are being cited for not wearing seatbelts in Kandiyohi County due to enhanced enforcement of seatbelt laws. A total of about 12 people were cited for not wearing a seatbelt Monday in Willmar. Law enforcement agencies across Minnesota are conducting enhanced enforcement this month focusing on seatbelt and child restraint violations.
Theft
WILLMAR - An individual was cited Sunday afternoon at Walmart in Willmar for theft.
