WILLMAR - Elijah Aaron Borden, 19, of Willmar, made his first appearance Wednesday on a charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Judge Michael J. Thompson set bail at $40,000.
Borden is charged with inappropriately touching a 7-year-old female Aug. 15. The complaint alleges that the incident happened while the girl was staying at her mother’s house located on Lakeland Drive Southeast in Willmar.
A child protection worker interviewed the girl
Sept. 28 and learned that Borden was lying next to the girl on the girl’s bed when Borden began touching her.
The girl said the incident happened during the summer when she was 6 years old. Borden was identified in the complaint as a family friend. The complaint states that Borden came to the Law Enforcement Center in Willmar Oct. 1 to meet with a detective.
Prior to the interview, Borden was informed that he was not under arrest and that he was free to leave at any time. Borden indicated he understood. During the interview, Borden said he knows the girl, and the complaint states that he admitted touching the girl while he was alone with the girl in her bedroom.
