WILLMAR - Authorities were made aware of a computer scam at 12:57 Tuesday. The complainant from Willmar showed an officer an email from someone attempting to blackmail the complainant and demanding payment in bitcoin, a type of electronic cash.
The exchange rate for bitcoin Wednesday afternoon was one bitcoin equals $6,426 according to Coinbase Inc.
Law enforcement informed the complainant that the email was a scam and provided more information about it.

Hunters allowed in city limits
WILLMAR - Two hunters have received permission to hunt in city limits on private land near the Willmar Municipal Airport. The goal is to control waterfowl in the flight lines of the airport.
