Sunday accident injures three
LITCHFIELD - A car accident Sunday evening south of Litchfield left three people injured.
Damon Remmel, 42, of Grove City was turning west onto 205th Street in Greenleaf Township around 5 p.m. Sunday when his vehicle collided with a car traveling south on state Highway 22, according to the Meeker County Sheriffâs Office.
Remmel and his passenger were transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
The passenger of the other vehicle, driven by Brandi Horstmann, 22, of Watkins was injured. Coddy Illg, 21, of Watkins, was transported by a private vehicle to Meeker Memorial Hospital, according to the Sheriffâs Office.
Both vehicles were towed due to damages.
Also assisting in the accident were Minnesota State Patrol, Litchfield Rescue and Litchfield Fire Department.
The crash is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol.
Fire
GROVE CITY - A Grove City man was working on his motorcycle Friday evening when it set his garage on fire, according to the Meeker County Sheriffâs Office.
Bradley Thompsen, 54, was able to put the fire out by using a fire extinguisher, but not before the motorcycle sustained about $2,000 in damages.
The garage, located at a residence on the 300 block of South Third Street in Grove City, was not damaged and there were no injuries, according to the Meeker County Sheriffâs Office.
The Grove City Fire Department also responded to the fire.

Kandiyohi County
WILLMAR - A 29-year-old Minneapolis man faces a felony theft charge for allegedly stealing more than $2,250 of cigarettes from Cash Wise Foods in Willmar.
Alonzo Pharez Gatlin made an appearance Monday in Kandiyohi County District Court, and an omnibus hearing is scheduled for Oct. 2.
According to the criminal complaint, surveillance video showed that Gatlin stole cigarettes on 12 different occasions between the months of February and June this year.
WILLMAR - Christopher Jon Schulte, 40, of Spicer pleaded guilty to one felony count of domestic assault Monday.
As part of a plea agreement, another count of felony domestic assault will be dismissed.
According to the complaint, a Spicer woman reported to the Kandiyohi County Sheriffâs Office on Friday that Schulte had assaulted her and then left the residence on foot when she called 911 for law enforcement.
He has prior convictions for violation of an order for protection in April 2005, fifth-degree assault in 2008 and harassment and stalking in 2010, all in Renville County.
Sentencing is set for Oct. 13.
WILLMAR - Christopher Jay Baumgartner, 38, of Fargo, N.D., was sentenced Monday to one year in county jail with credit for 252 days served on a gross misdemeanor charge of stalking with intent to injure.
Baumgartner pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 24. Other charges of felony terroristic threats and misdemeanor disorderly conduct were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
According to the complaint, a Kandiyohi County sheriff âs deputy was called to a Spicer bank on April 16 regarding a threat made to a bank official. The man reported that he had had a phone conversation with Baumgartner that included a threat that the man would be a âdead man walkingâ if bank actions were to wreck Baumgartnerâs business. The man asked Baumgartner if that was a threat and he allegedly responded that it wasnât a threat, it was a promise.
The deputy interviewed Baumgartner, who said he was being smart on the phone and over-spoke and used inappropriate language. He allegedly admitted to saying that the comment wasnât a threat, it was a promise.
His criminal record includes a conviction for terroristic threats in June 2005 in Brown County.
