Redwood Valley finishes 6th in 'A'

BURNSVILLE -- Redwood Valley advanced to the consolation finals of the state Class A girls tennis tournament Thursday, but lost to St. James 6-1. The Cardinals beat Greenway 4-3 in the consolation semifinals and Minnewaska Area lost to St. James 6-1.

BURNSVILLE -- Redwood Valley advanced to the consolation finals of the state Class A girls tennis tournament Thursday, but lost to St. James 6-1.

The Cardinals beat Greenway 4-3 in the consolation semifinals and Minnewaska Area lost to St. James 6-1.

Rochester Lourdes won the Class A title for the ninth consecutive in a 7-0 win over Mounds Park Academy. Edina also won its ninth-straight Class AA title, 6-1 over Mounds View.

Sam Boushek picked up Redwood Valley's only point, a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Sara Dahl at 3-singles.

Alissa Mattison (1-singles) and Caitlin Maguire (4-singles) also picked up wins for the Cardinals.
