DULUTH -- The St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified a body found last week as that of Dale Elizabeth Gerard, a Duluth woman missing since last summer.
Duluth police announced last week that a person had discovered the remains about 100 yards north of an intersection, along a fence and brush line.
The news came as a blow to her family.
“It was tough finding out the body belonged to my mom,” said Kim Gerard, one of Dale Gerard’s sons.
Gerard, 74, who relatives said suffered from dementia, had been missing since July 20, when she left a senior housing facility and boarded a bus before getting off at a city stop.

Police have said it could take much longer for the medical examiner to determine a cause of death.
