When the Granite Falls boys hockey team made it to the state tournament in 1945, the team had just one shot on goal in a quarterfinal game against Eveleth at the St. Paul Auditorium.

That one shot, which came from center ice, was stopped by Eveleth netminder Ron "Bear" Drobnick, setting a state record that still stands today for fewest saves in a state tournament game.

Drobnick died on Feb. 1 of heart failure
