NORTH MANKATO -- "Fueling Our Future -- Energy From The Land" is the theme of the annual Rural Legislative Forum scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at the South Central College Conference Center in North Mankato.
The forum will help answer some key questions that are often heard by the general public regarding biofuels and renewable energy, including concerns about varying prices for E85, why renewable fuel products aren't at more locations in Minnesota and why mandates and incentives are needed for ethanol and biodiesel. There will also be discussion on wind, biomass, solar and other renewable energy sources.
These issues, and other insights on the future of renewable energy in Minnesota and the United States, will be addressed by a keynote panel that will provide a national perspective on the ethanol and biodiesel industries.
A state legislative panel featuring senators and representatives from south central Minnesota will be held from 1:15 to 3 p.m. They will address audience questions related to renewable energy in Minnesota and other key issues for the 2006 legislative session.
Registration cost is $10 per person if registered by Dec. 5, and $15 without prior registration. The fee includes the noon lunch and all printed materials.
