OLIVIA - Renville County is committed to building a new health care campus to replace the existing RC Hospital and Clinics facility in Olivia.

The Renville County board of commissioners unanimously approved a resolution this morning moving the county-owned hospital forward on its proposed $24 million project.

The RC Hospital and Clinics is seeking financing through the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development. It was emphasized that revenues from the operations will retire the debt, and that taxpayers will not be asked to support the project.

Plans will be ready for the USDA-RD application process by mid-July. The hospital is currently considering four different sites in Olivia for the new campus, according to Nathan Blad, newly-appointed as Chief Executive Officer for the facility.

If all goes as planned, construction would likely take place starting in 2014 with the possibility of a late 2015 or early 2016 opening.
