BROOTEN -- Richard "Mike" Field, 65, of Brooten died Wednesday at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Minneapolis.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Hoplin Funeral Home in Brooten and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.

He was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Fergus Falls to W.C. and Charlotte (Libke) Field. He and graduated from Ashby High School in 1958. He worked at Carlson Parts in Wheaton. In the early 1960s, he worked for Great Northern Railroad in Minneapolis and as a switchman for the E&J Railroad in Chicago. He entered the U.S. Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1965. He moved to Clarkfield and worked in the meat department of a local food market.

He married Priscilla Hartfiel on Sept. 18, 1966. He purchased Mike's Food Market in Brooten in 1968 and started making lutefisk in the back building. He built Mike's Fish Company in Glenwood in 1979.

He is survived by his wife; daughters: Jolene (and John) O'Hare of New Ulm, Janelle (and Darin Jensen) of Belgrade, Jodi (and Cory) Bedel of Hancock, Jana (and Ben Zenner) of Brooten; and one brother: Clark (and Roberta) of Clarkfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
