OUTLOOK

Two-sport standout Hilary Groothuis of Maynard will be back after averaging 14.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game as a freshman. She and first-year player Danielle Goeman of Raymond are also volleyball players and with the team at the Division III National Tournament this weekend. For now, there are nine players. Lisa Nielsen, a center from Willmar, will be counted on in the post. Lisa Chinander of Coon Rapids, Britney Glisczinski of Henderson and Groothuis will also play in the paint. Chinander got off to a slow start by being sidelined with mononucleosis and, now this week, with an ankle sprain. Wing Bridget Boehlke of Waverly, who can also post up, and off-guard Karen Christopher of Breckenridge bring experience to the lineup. Brooke Busack of Echo plays a physical game and will be counted on for defensive toughness. Tara Thielke, a 1,000-point scorer and All-State player from Hancock, will play the point. Thielke had 73 three-pointers for the Owls, a Class A finalist last season. Versatile Patina Queenan of Kerkhoven will also be able to play the point. Freshman wing Emily Mathiowetz of Comfrey has the athletic ability to be a scorer.
