COON RAPIDS -- Ridgewater collected its 10th win of the season Wednesday as the Warriors thrashed Anoka-Ramsey 86-73 in a Minnesota College Athletic Conference Southern Division men's basketball game.
Casey Sussenguth ignited the Warriors' solid shooting performance by netting 27 points. The freshman post was 13-for-15 from the field while as a team Ridgewater shot 56 percent by 36-for-64.
"We built a strong lead and in the second half we got it up to 24," said Ridgewater head coach Bob Knutson. "But they hit some three's (in the second half) and we let up defensively. We didn't have that killer instinct."
Shawn Neu followed Sussenguth with 14 points, Tom Boike 11 and Cory Nietfeld 10.
Nietfeld also grabbed 11 rebounds to collect another double-double for the Warriors. Ben Moser and Beau Bredeson guided the offense by dishing out five assists apiece.

Lady Warriors' late bid thwarted by Anoka-Ramsey
COON RAPIDS -- Ridgewater came back from a double-digit deficit, but it couldn't keep the momentum going as Anoka-Ramsey clipped the Lady Warriors 67-58 in a Minnesota College Athletic Conference Southern Division women's basketball game Wednesday.

Anoka-Ramsey, ranked eighth in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, capitalized on Ridgewater's miscues to establish a 41-28 lead at halftime.
The lead expanded to "15 or 16" in the second half for the Golden Rams (2-1, 12-5), but Ridgewater (1-1, 6-8) eventually fought back to tie the game, but would never get the lead.
"We went to a zone to get us back in the game," said Ridgewater head coach Carrie Ogdahl. "But they found some openings. We missed some free throws and that's huge because they would come down (on their end) and score."
Only Chelsea Voorhees with 12 points and Tara Thielke with 11 more scored in double figures for Ridgewater, which shot 44 percent from the field (23-for-52) and free-throw line (8-for-18).
Thielke added seven assists and three steals while Voorhees, Alison Mason and Kari Caspers all grabbed five rebounds.
The Lady Warriors host Fergus Falls at 1 p.m. on Saturday. It will be the first home game since Dec. 13 for Ridgewater.
