WILLMAR -- Back from a weekend tournament in Arizona, the Ridgewater Lady Warriors didn't show any ill effects of a long trip, dominating on their home floor Wednesday night.
Ridgewater controlled the play at the net, routing MSCTC-Fergus Falls 30-19, 30-10, 30-26 in junior college volleyball action.
"We couldn't run our offense because we were always on defense," said Spartans head coach Terri Strom. "I didn't think our girls would be so intimidated."
Ridgewater is imposing at the net with its height and balanced attack. Brittany TerWisscha, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, pounded down 13 kills. Leah Miller (5-foot-9) had 10 kills, Jordan Olerud (5-9) nine, Jackie Noyes (6-foot) eight, Hilary Groothuis (6-foot) six and Carina Fesenmaier (5-10) four.
The Lady Warriors (2-0 in the Minnesota Community College Conference South Division and 7-5 overall) spent Friday and Saturday in Thatcher, Arizona, playing NJCAA Division I and II schools, many of them ranked.

"They were really tough teams," said Noyes, a sophomore from Minneota. "Bigger and faster than we're used to seeing. But I thought we played well, really battled. It should make us a better team."
The Lady Warriors won three of seven matches and then took in the Arizona Diamondbacks game with the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night before catching a flight back on Sunday.
This Friday and Saturday, Ridgewater will be hosting its own 10-team tournament at the college.
