DUPAGE, Ill. -- After getting swept by Minnesota Community College Conference rival Central Lakes in the opener of the College of DuPage Invite Friday, Ridgewater bounced back to sweep Illinois Valley to give new head coach Joe Sussenguth his first career win.
The Lady Warriors dropped the first game to Central Lakes 30-16 before eventually being outlasted in the second game 30-26 and losing the final game 15-7.
A solid hitting attack then fueled Ridgewater's 30-18, 30-23, 15-7 win over Illinois Valley in its second pool-play match.
"We passed the ball much better and we looked better at serve receive and that was the key," said Sussenguth. "And we looked a little more comfortable. It always nice to get that first win."
The Lady Warriors only made eight hitting errors against Illinois Valley compared to 25 in their opener.

Ridgewater's Ashley Hennen pounded down 13 kills in the two matches, including nine against Illinois Valley. Ashley Olson followed with 12 kills and Jackie Noyes added 11 more for the Lady Warriors.
Ridgewater plays the host team today at 2 p.m. A loss would eliminated the Lady Warriors from the tourney.
