THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Ridgewater took third place in the MCCC State Tournament Sunday, despite finishing pool play with two losses.

The Lady Warriors lost to Mesabi Range and Itasca in back-to-back matches Saturday, but were tied with Mesabi Range for second in the pool. Ridgewater beat Mesabi in a play-in match, 26-30, 30-17, 15-11.

In the championship semifinals, the Lady Warriors lost to Central Lakes 30-23, 30-14, 25-30, 25-30, 15-13, but beat Hibbing 26-30, 30-14, 30-19, 16-30, 15-10 for third place.

Kristen Raitz, a sophomore from Buffalo Lake, led the team with 74 kills in six matches on 187-of-209 attacks, had 64 digs and was named to the all-tournament team. Sophomore Terra Billiet, from Madison, added 61 kills. Katie Johnson, a freshman from Grove City, recorded 11 ace blocks and served 16 aces. Kassi Maurice, a freshman from Danube, had 126 set assists and was also named to the all-tournament team.
