DANUBE -- Robert Galen 'Swede' Westby, 71, of Danube died Saturday at his home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Renville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Arrangements are by Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1936, in Renville to Gilman and Ruth (Peterson) Westby He was a 1954 graduate of the Renville High School. He attended St. Cloud State University.
He married Janice Kashmark on Oct. 12, 1957, in Renville. They lived in Danube and he worked for 38 years for Renville/Sibley Power Co-op in Danube. He retired in 1998. Then he worked at Agraliance in Renville from 1999 to 2001.

He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Danube Lions Club and served on the Danube Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife; children: Dan (and Deb) Westby of Marshall, Terry (and Brad) Skoglund of Paynesville, Deb (and Rich) Miska of Breezy Point; six grandchildren; his mother; and a sister: Marilyn (and Duane) Johnson of Vinton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his son: Tom; and his father.
