GRANITE FALLS -- Rodney Eugene Bakker, 68, of Granite Falls died Wednesday at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ in Granite Falls. There will be a private family burial.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls.
He was born July 11, 1937, in Superior, Wis., to Edward and LaVerna (Wright) Bakker. He grew up and attended school in Wilmot, S.D., and earned a bachelor's degree. He helped his father in his painting business until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served for four years, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. He also served in the Army National Guard for 10 years.

He was a member of United Church of Christ in Granite Falls, was a foster parent for many years, and received numerous awards for his photography skills.
He is survived by his wife: Diane; daughters: Tanya (and Steven) Kemp of Medford, Ore., Tamara (and Andrew) Lenz of Oakdale; one grandson; and one brother: Howard (and Nadine) Bakker of Lake Havasu, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather: Anton Aasebo; and one brother.
