WATSON -- Roger Wik, 79, of Watson died Saturday at his home in Watson.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Watson Lutheran Church in Watson. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
He was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Montevideo to Jasper and Betty (Berg) Wik. He attended school in Montevideo, Watson and Aberdeen, S.D. He served in the U.S. Navy, spent 2½ years in the South Pacific, and was part of the invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was in Tokyo Bay when the Japanese signed the surrender.

He married Dorothy Olson on Oct. 18, 1948, in Montevideo. He worked as a lineman and crew chief for REC for 37 years, and part time for nine years, reading meters and checking trees.
He was a member of Watson Lutheran Church and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife; children: Bradford (and Janis) Wik of Watson, Cheryl (and Donald) Flinn of Aberdeen, S.D., Madeline (and Rodney) Nielsen of Watson; four granddaughters; and four siblings: Jerry (and Barbara) Wik of Blaine, Raymond (and Marilyn) Wik of Aberdeen, S.D., Margaret (and Russel) Krause of Rock Hill, S.C., and Wendy (and Jerry) Opsahl of Aberdeen, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother: Cora Wik; two sons: Joel and one in infancy, and infant daughter: Jean.
