DAWSON -- Ruth Eleanor Strege, 93, of Dawson died Saturday at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Dawson. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Garden Cemetery in rural Montevideo.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

She was born June 23, 1914, in Dell Rapids, S.D., to Albert and Mattie (Thompson) Daggett. When she was 6 years old, her mother died during childbirth. She and her brother moved to live with their aunt and grandmother in North Dakota, where she completed the eighth grade. They moved back to George, Iowa, to live with their father and other siblings. She graduated in 1933 from George High School.

She married Dale Ripley on Feb. 15, 1937, in Arnold's Park, Iowa. They farmed in Iowa for several years and moved to a farm east of Dawson in 1942. In 1975, they moved into Dawson. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Dawson and Montevideo hospitals.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dawson, Farm Bureau, 4-H and Senior Citizens. She is survived by her children: Carol (and Charles) Robertson of Bloomington, Dennis Ripley of Glenwood and Sharon (and Gary) Kinler of Tofte; special friend: Jim Hayes of Dawson; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Dale Ripley in 1976, Don Russell in 1991 and Fred Strege in 1993; three brothers and one sister.
