WILLMAR -- Judge Michael J. Thompson has postponed the omnibus hearing for a Willmar man char-ged with shooting at a Willmar police officer. Friday morning's hearing was delayed un-til 1:15 p.m. Jan. 24 because prosecuting and defense attorneys are waiting for the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to complete its analysis of evidence.
Thompson announced the hearing would be postponed after he met in his chambers with Assistant Kandiyohi County Attorney Connie Crowell and Neil Tangen of Starbuck, the attorney for defendant Arcadio Salinas Jr., 23, of Willmar.
Salinas is charged with aiding and abetting first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer in connection with his role in allegedly shooting at an officer on Sept. 15 in Willmar. One of the bullets struck the headlight of the officer's squad car. Two other shots struck a nearby occupied home along the 800 block of Second Street Southeast.
Salinas is in the Kandiyohi County Jail in lieu of paying bail of $800,000 or posting bond. He appeared in court Friday morning wearing a blue jail jumpsuit and orange shirt.
Three other men, Leroy Diaz Evans, 26, Jesus Trevino, 33, and Adrian Salinas, 20, all of Willmar, are also charged in connection with the shooting.

During an omnibus hearing, the court determines the constitutional admissibility of evidence derived from searches, seizures, interrogations and identification procedures, according to the Minnesota Rules of Criminal Procedure. Also, the court determines whether it is probable that the defendant committed the crimes charged in the complaint.
